The amusing Ilaveezhapoonchira

Ilaveezhapoonchira is one of the famous tourist destinations in Kerala. It is located in Kanjar, 55 kilometers away from Kottayam. Ilaveezhapoonchira is a place blessed well with sun-kissed valleys. The outstanding panoramic view from the top will surely delight you. The heights of Ilaveezhapoonchira hold the least explored areas. It remains beautiful at the foot of the cliffs of Thonnipara, Mankunnu, and Kudayathurmala. The place offers amazing trekking opportunities. From the top, the tourists can enjoy the panoramic view of Thrissur, Kottayam, Alappuzha, and Idukki. Ilaveezhapoonchira means ‘the flower pond where leaves do not fall’. This is true to an extent because there is no trees anywhere near the place so no leaf-fall too. However, according to a popular Hindu myth, it is said that Draupadi, the wife of Pandavas, used to take bath in a lake here. Because of her charming beauty, some Devas started looking at her as she progressed taking bath in the lake. Lord Indra came to know about this incident and he created a bundle of tall flowers, which stopped them from looking at her. Thus, the place turned into flowery hills. Ilaveezhapoonchira is an ideal place for trekking. Splendid hills like Mankunnu and Kudayathurmala offers great trekking and hiking opportunities for travellers. Traveling through the lush green aisles mostly including grasslands, one can reach these hills. Once you make it to the top of the hill, you can enjoy the breathtaking views of sunrise and sunset. Muniguha, a small cave located inside the forest is also a major attraction of this place. Only one person can crawl this cave at a time. A small stream situated near this adds charm to the place. You should hire a jeep to reach there as the path to the cave is extremely craggy and it may be unsafe to some travelers. A trip to Ilaveezhapoonchira is a mesmerizing experience, especially during the monsoon season. The best time to visit Ilaveezhapoonchira is from November to March. This is right before the hot season comes in. The beauty of the hills full of flowers is beyond words. You will have to climb an altitude of 3200 feet. The tourist Bungalow on the top of the hill is very small and has only very few rooms. There is no electricity and mobile network coverage. It is a perfect place for those who want to have a candlelight dinner accompanied by the sheer beauty of nature, listening to the wildlife near your place of stay. There is an opportunity to watch sunset and sunrise from here. You can complete visiting the place in just one day and there is nothing else to do out here much than trekking and hiking. Chances are there for thunderstorms in the evening so the best is to start in the morning itself and complete the trip before it turns dark. It is a perfect place to be included in Kerala tour packages and Kerala honeymoon packages as it offers a splendid panoramic view of four districts including Thrissur, Alappuzha, Kottayam, and Idukki. When you think about Kerala holiday packages, Ilaveezhapoonchira should be your first choice from now.
